Woman convicted for deadly Mercer Co. attack
Issue date: 9/12/09 Section: Community News
MERCER, Pa. (AP)- An Ohio woman has been convicted of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and other crimes in the attack on a Mercer County man and his daughter in her apartment.
Police say 21-year-old Krystle Weaver of Fowler, Ohio, went with a man to Heather Lorigan's apartment in Greenville to rob her. In the process, Ms. Lorigan was seriously wounded and her father, 44-year-old Thomas Lorigan, was fatally stabbed.
Ms. Weaver's co-defendant, 21-year-old Ronald Machado of Jamestown, Mercer County, committed suicide in an Ohio jail on May 24, 2008, four days after the attack.
Ms. Weaver's attorney blamed the crimes on Mr. Machado, but a Mercer County jury found Ms. Weaver guilty yesterday of playing a part in the crimes. She faces a mandatory life sentence.
