Mass Communications Class Produces Mini-Documentaries

NEW WILMINGTON, Lawrence County-- Westminster College students in communication studies instructor Keith Corso's Mass Communications class produced documentaries which are available for online viewing. Based on the theme "One Person Can Make a Difference," the films have been entered in a video contest sponsored by The Christophers, a non-profit organization that encourages people to use their talents to make a positive difference in the world.

Descriptions of each film, the students who produced it, and a link for online viewing follow:

"Lead, Live, Learn: Miss Vonnie's Vision" chronicles the story of Walker House, founded by Miss Vonnie to reach out to inner city children. Nearly two years later, she is still making a difference in the lives of these children by providing hope for a bright future. "Seeing without Seeing"

"In One Second Everything Can Change. Phillip Macri: A Hero, an Inspiration, a Friend" tells the story of Macri, who suffered a swimming accident 20 years ago and is now a quadriplegic. He inspires others through his strength and positive outlook, which he shares through speaking engagements. "Building a Legacy"
focuses on Anthony Razzano, a community member who truly gives back. The owner of the New Castle Thunder football team, Razzano founded a non-profit organization to provide financial assistance to families of hospitalized patients, and provides opportunities for student interns through his accounting practice. "What One Woman Can Do Is…" describes the contributions of Barb Wagner, director of the Eastside Breakfast Food Pantry, who is responsible for feeding over 120 families in the New Castle area each month. Wagner's warmth, love, and encouragement inspire others to hope for a better tomorrow. Produced by Amy Cornicelli, Megan Hoffman, Shayna Marti, Ashley Santarsiero, and Jamie Spisak. "81: An Unbreakable Statistic" documents a caring coach who spent a lifetime making a difference on and off the field. Since the beginning of his coaching career, Mr. Goodwin has impacted the lives of family, friends, peers, and students. At 81 years young, he refuses to give up something he loves so dearly, showing that staying young comes from inside and from those around you.
